New MN Construction Worker Laws: Understanding Employee Misclassification

On March 1, 2025, stricter rules take effect regarding whether Minnesota construction workers or subcontractors are truly independent contractors. The default rule is that all such parties are employees unless proven otherwise. Contractors must become familiar with the newly expanded criteria to avoid possible large fines and extra costs.
